Bought a set of Continental TKC80's, mounted and balanced from Ron at Kamikazi. He sells tons of tires for KLRs and others. Ron tells me he's never had a problem with the TKC 80s. After nearly a month of riding in all sorts of conditions and terrain I agree. I kept the Avons in case I find a set of rims to use for quick swaps.

I have over 600 miles on the tires now and they still appear new. The front shows no wear at all. We'll see how the rear wears as I like to twist the throttle a bit.

Thanks for the great advice on tires!

I've tried a bunch of tires and for what I ride the TKC's are my faves

grooster i used to get about 2 1/2 rear tires to one front tire when i was running tkc 80's on my klr, and i definitely liked twisting the throttle. great tire may even try them on the ktm when time to change tires. Very Happy

Update on the TKC80's I bought last summer...

2000 miles on them and they still appear new. Most of the miles are dirt. The bike still feels quite stable on asphalt, too. I really enjoy these tires! Recommended!
